Dungarvan

It continued raining through the morning, but cleared up mid-day. Around 5:30 pm I left for Dungarvan, a town on the Co. Waterford coast. I had rubbed sores into the back of my feet with the hiking boots I wore yesterday. I was alright though with all the walking I did today. ‘The sun was low in the sky as I walked around, casting perfect light for shooting. I went down by the waterside, where a few boats were moored in the middle of the bay.

On my way towards the car, I passed a trio of kids sitting on a cemetery wall, throwing stuff at us. A woman stopped her car to yell at them, and the kids swore back at her. Around the corner of this wall was a Protestant church called St. Mary’s. It was built over a Catholic church, one of the walls which was still standing. The oddest thing about the graveyard were the modern headstones and beds near the ancient ones. It clashed quite a bit.

The day remained nice, and I headed “home.” Mariela (owner of the localGallery) stopped by too, and I had a talk and some whiskey with her. It feels a bit strange talking to another American in Ireland. When she left, I watched Wall-E, though I had trouble not falling asleep.
