Cashel

This afternoon I went to the Rock of Cashel, also known as St. Patrick’s Rock. It is located in Cashel, Co. Tipperary. It is a large complex pieced over the centuries wall by wall. St. Patrick himself supposedly visited the place in the 5th century. There are a lot of old graves and large Celtic Crosses, the biggest of which have crumbled. In a few areas they uncovered murals from the 12th century, which were covered with limewash during the Reformation (considered too idolatrous).

I drove around afterward looking for somewhere else to go, but most places were closed. I had a BBQ on a portable grill and spent a good portion of the night eating outside. I suffered from a hiccuping fit for a half hour as well. During dinner I spotted two bright white things in the back field, and discovered one of the ewes had lambed. She had two black and white Jacob lambs.
